When Puffco launched the Peak e-rig in 2018, dabbing was an opaque, underground culture, accessible only to torch-wielding super stoners. Flash forward to now, and the brand has become synonymous with innovation in the space, consistently rolling out products that not only appeal to the hyper-insular subculture of cannabis but push that culture forward by making hash highs accessible to the mainstream.

The game-changing ethos of Puffco shines in its newest product: the Proxy, a modular vaporizer that's going to revolutionize hash consumption, as well as the culture it predicates.

Concentrates are an effective way to use cannabis, but the genre has been marred by stigma and lack of visibility. People are scared of what they don't know, and dabbing isn't something they encounter in social settings like a joint or a gummy.

While the Peak and Peak Pro took dabbing from the basement to the coffee table, the Proxy is bringing it from your living room to the streets. Not only does the versatile design of the atomizer pod invite glass artists to contribute to an entirely new accessory space, but the portability of the waterless device in pipe form has also made hash consumption easier and more discreet than ever before.

The Puffco Proxy is a portable, modular vaporizer aimed at creating a fully customizable experience. Whereas other modular dab devices are made to fit into pre-existing glass rigs or bongs, the Proxy requires glass to be designed around it.

The base Proxy unit is basically like a portable, rubber-clad version of the 3D Chamber atomizer found in the Peak Pro device. The ceramic chamber heats evenly on all sides, with an Oculus carb cap featuring a directional air path to maximize vapor production.

When purchased (for $299), the device arrives with a sherlock pipe glass receptacle that is small and discreet. In true Puffco fashion, the sherlock shape is a nod to classic stoner culture, channeling the Gandalf pipes of our youth that you rarely see anymore.

Puffco will be rolling out additional accessories in the coming months, and glass artists are already creating mind-blowing works to house this little invention, so part of what is being created with this device is the excitement for what is to come.

Much like the Peak and Peak Pro, the Proxy uses a simple push-button interface with four programmed heat settings: blue (low), green (medium), red (high), and white (peak).

Also included with the Proxy is a carrying case, loading tool, Dual Tools, and a USB-C charging cable.

How to use the Puffco Proxy

Cleaning the Proxy is quick and easy so you can get back to using it in no time.

The Puffco Proxy is the most game-changing concentrate device since the original Peak was released. I've been reviewing devices for years, and believe that even outside of the dabbing space, this is one of the coolest cannabis products of all time in terms of innovation and cultural potential.

The best way to describe the Proxy — in its stock sherlock form — is an electronic pipe where you can smoke hash like you would smoke weed: anywhere, everywhere, all the time. The beauty of it is just that simple.

While I was afraid the absence of water would make the smoking experience too harsh, I found the Proxy hit to be smooth and extremely flavorful. Not only did I not miss the water, but I also preferred the dry smoking experience. The flavor is stronger, and it overall feels more casual than the bong-like Peak or Peak Pro, both of which give off a more ceremonious energy and are better suited for at-home use.

The e-rig market is a particularly brutal one, consisting mostly of chintzy landfill fodder and endless iterations of knockoffs that eviscerate terps with a red hot coil — and then break a week later.

Puffco's meticulous design process produces products that create culture instead of trash and sets the bar light years ahead of its competitors, conceptually, aesthetically, and functionally. The Proxy might be Puffco's best one yet, and we can't wait to see what's next.

Inconsistent rules around cannabis advertising call for creative solutions with some unintended consequences. Cannabis is here to stay. Let's talk about it.

420 is the single most recognizable thing about cannabis culture. And it wouldn't exist without a group of hooligans named the Waldos who got together at 4:20 pm every day...

It's that time of year again when it only makes sense to treat yourself to all the weedy things your stoned little heart desires. Whether you're heading to a 4/20...
